RECORDING 7

"Leiern" songs can be composed by repetition of 1 or 2 or 3 syllables. Leiern is not a typical Italian dialect. It was first discovered by german ornithologist (e.g. Bergmann) in the past century and seems to be quite widespread in Western Europe (in mountains, islands and peninsulas). None knows the origin and significance of this particular vocalization. Background: Magpie call and Blackcap song. - MIC: (P)

Note that the leiern syllables have the same morphology of those in the previous recording (see spectrograms).
